/: During the last decade, new winds have been blowing and there has been a surge of interest in wood flooring systems, as people seek quality materials which are solid and durable – ‘like in the olden days…’.
As a result of technological developments, these materials are being placed on the market at lower and lower prices, especially in comparison with traditional solutions.
With the rise of new structural solutions such as reinforced concrete floor slabs, combined with successive price rises for raw materials, both traditional quality parquet and solid wood floorboards, so characteristic of old houses, have fallen into disuse.
New versions of these old materials are now available, still using solid wood, but with greatly reduced thickness. These, by using smaller quantities of raw material, are cheaper.
Wood has been used for decorative purposes since time immemorial, but it is nevertheless considered one of the most contemporary of materials by design professionals around the world.
